Kadette Pinotage Rosé

Full bodied wine with more onion skin colour rather than red/pink. Typical Pinotage floral aromas with prominent red fruit flavours. Enjoy with seafood or light pasta style dishes.

Kadette

The wine has a deep ruby, red colour. It shows ripe raspberries, black current and mocca flavours on the nose and has dark chocolate and blackberry fruit on the palate. This wine has good length with a dry finish.

Pinotage

Full bodied wine with a dark purple colour. Intense fruit flavours with soft ripe tannins give this wine maturation potential of up to 15-20 years. Red meat or spicy Asian style dishes.

Cabernet Sauvignon

A full bodied fruity wine made in a classic, old world style. Rich berry flavours with tea leaf nuance. Ideal with red meat, game, stews and ripe cheese.

Paul Sauer

A structured red wine with deep ruby colours – spicy, nutty, berry and cassis flavours. A very well balanced and elegant wine with a strong classic feel, should improve over the next 10 – 12 years. Pairs well with all types of meat dishes.

Kanonkop is a fourth generation family estate, which was originally purchased by JW Sauer, a cabinet member in the parliament of the Union of South Africa. His son Paul Oliver Sauer, also a cabinet minister, took over the reins from his father and in 1968 was joined by Springbok rugby great Jan “Boland” Coetzee. Mary Sauer, daughter of Paul Sauer, inherited the Estate. She married Jannie Krige, a rugby administrator at the University of Stellenbosch, who took early retirement and together with Coetzee made the first estate bottled wines in 1973.Beyers Truter joined the estate in 1980 with the departure of Coetzee, and together with Johann and Paul, sons of Mary and Jannie, continued the traditions developed on this highly prized estate. More recently Beeslaar, who joined the team in 2002, has taken over from Beyers and continues the good work passed down from generation to generation.

Warwick Estate, Stellenbosch

Warwick Estate Professor Black Sauvignon Blanc

The wine shows an abundance of tropical fruit, pear, grapefruit and green fig flavours on the nose that carry through to the palette. The mouth feel is crisp, yet rich and fruity, and coats the pallet evenly. The well-balanced acid and lingering aftertaste will make you come back for more. Enjoy with fresh oysters, goats cheese salad or grilled/steamed fresh-water fish, Italian green salad.

Chardonnay

The light green colour shows the fresh and lively attitude of this wine. The bouquet opens with intense French oak aromas, vanilla, coconut and marzipan. Then the Chardonnay fruit flavours start to dominate with tones of green apple citrus and orange peel. The palate is full, round and shows a complexity of fruit, well balanced with the supporting oak flavours. The finish is fresh with the flavours lingering on the palate. Ideal with cold meats, seafood and fish.

Pinotage

Warwick Pinotage has a plum garnet colour with a complex of mix of fruits on the nose. On the palate lively Pinotage sweetness balanced by careful wood ageing as well as plenty of ripe fruits with a spicy finish. The wine is very accessible and balanced. Goes well with oxtail, duck and mushroom risotto.

First Lady

The wine has a deep and intense crimson colour. The nose shows ripe black berry compote and cherry tobacco bouquet and then follows through with dark chocolate and very subtle cinnamon in the background. The supple, ripe, polished tannins make this wine easy to drink while still retaining a full body. The balanced acid creates a firm finish that is completed by a lingering sweetness. Pairs well with lasagna and beef stew.

Three Cape Ladies

Each component distinctly displays its own qualities. This vintage shows great ripe red and black berry flavors on the nose as well as Mocha flavors. The Pinotage is soft and sweet while the Merlot and Shiraz offers a subtle spiciness. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the backbone of the blend with well balanced, smooth tannins that will do well with cellaring. Full on the palate with very long finish!! This blend brings the best of Pinotage to the classic French varieties. Enjoy with pan seared steak, roast shoulder of lamb, duck with figs or cherries...etc.

Trilogy

The wine displays an intense brick red dark colour. On the nose the wine expresses intense cedar, herbaceous spiciness and lots of wild berries and black olive aromas. On the palate the full rounded feel of the well ripened tannins slowly gives way to roasted almonds, vanilla and coffee flavours, and another hit of wild berries on the aftertaste. Decanting when young will give more pleasure and aroma. Perfect together with veal, game and intensely flavoured stews. Bitter chocolate dessert.

Warwick wine estate was known as the farm „Good Success‟ from 1791 until 1902. After the Anglo Boer war, Colonel Alexander Gordon from Warwickshire regiment bought the farm and renamed it „Warwick‟ as a tribute to his regiment.
In 1964 the farm was purchased by Stan & Norma Ratcliffe, at the time there was not a single vine on the farm. However, Stan and Norma Ratcliffe soon realized the potential of the terroir and began planting Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines gave high quality grapes, which were soon in demand from wholesalers and other wineries. Norma became more and more interested in the making of wine and began to study the subject. Soon a cellar was in place and in 1984 the first Warwick vintage was released (a Cabernet Sauvignon). It seemed Norma had the talent for making great wines and production soon increased. In 1986 a Bordeaux style blend, The Trilogy, was released and it soon became one of the flagships of the South African Wine Industry.

Vilafonté, Paarl

Series M

Its aromatics are open and inviting. This wine characteristically shows black cherry jelly, dried flowers, hints of almonds and pine nuts. M has a silky entrance on the palate, very even weight for its whole length, and some “fruit sweetness” in its middle and finish; even some chewy milk chocolate notes.

Series C

Series C‟s aromatics are deeply wound; some time in the glass shows sweet and sensuous black fruit on the nose; very expressive, with French oak underlying the fruit rather than dominating it. The wine is very young aromaticall, exhibiting intense fruit; and typicall, 1-2 years from release the will wine start revealiing its inherent complexity. It has got significant level of ripe tannin, which is silker in texture. Flavours of chocolate, almost a sense of liquid blackberries, some in the mid and end of the palate, balanced against some tannins, then a long finish of fruit. Cellering period of 1 – 2 years, show additional development over 8 years, then likely hold for another 10 years.
